Phoenix Design & Construction is a full-service interior design, construction, planning, and project management firm seeking a seasoned Designer/Project Manager to join our team in the San Mateo Area

Position Overview:

The Designer/Project Manager will work as part of a small team on design/build projects. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic person with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and who enjoys the entire process of design: interacting with clients, contractors, and vendors; preparing proposals; sourcing materials; placing and tracking orders; and coordinating deliveries and installations. This is a contract position that is paid on an hourly basis. Hourly rate to be determined based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Principal and Office Mgr. to manage and track daily project schedules and scope of work for entire business
  • Daily client interaction via email, in-person meetings, and phone calls
  • Review weekly timesheets, vendor invoices, and accounting for accuracy and work with bookkeeper on appropriate payment schedule
  • Create and maintain project punch lists for projects large and small
  • Contact vendors and subcontractors and request written estimates — large projects require multiple bids
  • Maintain database of current contractors / vendors while securing new ones as needed
  • Meet with contractors / vendors at property and review in detail the scope of project

Requirements:

  • 2-3 plus years of project management experience preferably in design, construction, or building
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as they arise; You will be asked to wear many different hats in a small business environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding service to high end clientele
  • Reliable, energetic, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Self-directed with a high level of initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office, and Excel
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2012/14 and Sketch Up a plus, but not required.
  • Solid drawing/sketches and hand drafting abilities a plus
  • Must have a car/cell phone, and the ability to visit job sites around the Bay Area
